The next generation of Cinegy’s MPEG Encoder / Decoder is now available. cinegy cinecoder, version 3.0 will be officially launched at IBC 2008 with a whole range of optimizations for the new generation of multi-core and multi-processor offerings by both Intel and AMD. The following new features are included in this latest version:
- The complete migration to the COM API means cinegy cinecoder can now be easily used with managed programming languages, such as C#. This is now a dynamic library.
- Due to COM API the cinegy cinecoder module can be easily ported to Linux and MAC. Later it will be joined with Mono, providing complete portability of programs made in the managed language environment for example Windows or Linux. Application portability reduces the cost and complexity of porting multimedia software to new processors and architectures
- All the settings are serialized via XML to enhance the portability.
- The MPEG2 settings are now much more flexible. Any parameter that has not been set will be set up automatically in the most optimal way.
- The Low Latency Mode has been introduced to cinegy cinecoder, with the realtime mode coming soon. Low Latency Mode is critical for professional video over IP applications.
- The SMPTE-362M (AES-3) audio encoder/decoder has been added.
- cinegy cinecoder now offers a completely new multiplexer designed for 24/7 operations with the support of the descriptors.
- The H264 video codec has been introduced to the library.

cinegy cinecoder is equally well suited for high-quality archive purposes, achieving above DigiBeta picture quality below 25Mbit/s, as well as for IMX encoding, DVB streaming or DVD authoring.
