The All-Russian State Institute of Cinematography (VGIK), the oldest and most prestigious film and television school in Russia, selected cinegy workflow to serve as the backbone of its new, multi-faceted television production studio. The move is part of a 4 billion ruble program to construct the most modern and sophisticated television production complex in Russia—and one of the most advanced in the world. The facility will be used both to train students in state-of-the-art television production, and to produce educational and entertainment content for broadcast in Russia and elsewhere.
At IBC 2009 we caught up with Mr. Vladimir Popeskou, Vice-chancellor for Technics and Technology at VGIK, along with Mr. Eldar Kalmykov, Chairman of DNK, and Igor Petrov, DNK Technical Director, for an overview of the Cinegy implementation at VGIK.
