Cinegy

Cinegy Capture is a completely new product, built from the ground-up as a totally independent ingest tool using many of the industry-leading components developed for other Cinegy products. Cinegy Capture reinvents the acquisition and transcode process, unifying the task of ingesting material and generating edit or web proxies. No longer bound to a single machine, anyone can use Cinegy Capture as an appliance with the simple yet powerful cross-platform control client - whenever or wherever they need it. Just take a standard PC, add one or multiple SDI cards, install Cinegy Capture and start experiencing the benefits of cost effective, centralized ingest controlled by anyone in your workgroup.

Overview

The idea behind Cinegy Capture is as simple as it is revolutionary; one or multiple instances of Cinegy Capture can be installed as a self-starting service on a commodity server or standard PC and configured to work with specified video hardware or IP streams. Once started Cinegy Capture announces itself to the network as an appliance that is controlled remotely via a web-hosted application, meaning install free and cross-platform operation from Windows and Mac OS alike.

The user can receive real-time feedback in the web interface using Microsoft Silverlight allowing instantaneous review of what is being captured - even when working over constrained internet links.

There is no limit to how many instances of Cinegy Capture can run on a machine other than processor performance and available space to install SDI cards. With a high performance server or workstation up to four AVID DNxHD or XDCAM HD422 streams can be captured simultaneously.

Cinegy Capture Pro is the ultimate edition of Cinegy Capture supporting all features of the above Express product, along with the option of encoding multiple streams simultaneously, replacing the requirement for a second stage transcode. For example the generation of broadcast-quality, proxy-quality and web formats required for many MAM or archive workflows. Cinegy Capture can also be used to create high-res media for multiple different NLE platforms at the same time, such as outputting MXF files for AVID and MOV files for Final Cut Pro in one pass.

Cinegy Capture Express is the entry-level edition aimed mostly at the production community allowing, among the many formats supported, the creation of AVID DNxHD media for use in AVID Media Composer. This frees up dedicated edit stations that would otherwise just be used for ingest purposes. Supported SDI cards are commonly used boards by vendors such as AJA, BlackMagic Design and DVS.
