Cinegy’s award winning broadcast automation and playout server solution, cinegy air now supports multi-channel playout and internet broadcasting. Multi-channel playout mode provides simultaneous playout of several playout channels controlled by a single cinegy air control application. The newest version 4.0 of cinegy air, the radically new approach to address broadcast automation and playout, will show multi-channel support in the way it has never been done before, demonstrated at IBC 2007 booth 7.143.

Multi-Channel Playout and Automation
Being one of the main new introductions for Cinegy at IBC the new multi-channel capabilities of cinegy air in version 4.0 make it possible with just one single user interface to control dozens or even hundreds of cinegy air server playout channels.

cinegy air is split into two parts – the control part and the server part. The control interface called cinegy air control supports remote control of physically distant cinegy air servers as long as there is a TCP/IP connection between them. The video playout monitor and control return signal is also delivered via TCP/IP so that there is no need for a SDI or video cable connection. All this makes building and operating multi-channel playout centers easier, more effective and less expensive to run.

The interface of the multi-channel mode is similar to the single channel mode, making is simple and intuitive to use. Multi-channel active mode provides you with simultaneous broadcasting of different playlists in various TV formats to multiple channels.

An additional horizontal timeline view provides a clear overview of all channels at the same time while the playlist of the currently selected channel can be edited using the regular, vertical view. The operator can switch seamlessly between all the channels and has clear visual indications of any potential problems to fix them well ahead.

The horizontal timeline provides a graphical overview of a defined time period. It can show the playout timeline for all channels, in the programs, blocks or items detail. You can change detail level from the convenient pop-up timeline menu. The user interface is intuitively designed with the background coloring of items in the timeline identical to items’ coloring in the playlist. The horizontal timeline in cinegy air provides a visual means to manage and navigate multiple channels with ease.

Internet Broadcasting with cinegy air
With the new version of cinegy air there is now the ability to broadcast directly to the Internet using Windows Media steaming. This means every cinegy air playout channel can also be set up to broadcast the same program live on the Internet without requiring any additional hardware or software. This is also very interesting for applcations where the only goal is to broadcast on the Internet.  The cinegy air EPG API can then also be used to build automatic Electronic Program Guides for integrating with a broadcaster’s website.

Multi-channel Monitoring of Ingest & Playout
Cinegy provides the ability to have video return feeds via TCP/IP to monitor any playout or ingest feed from any machine connected via LAN or WAN network via the Cinegy monitor software. This software creates virtual monitor walls which can then be run on any PC to monitor any incoming our outgoing signal wherever and however it is required, again requiring no additional expensive hardware or cabling.
