LOS ANGELES—IT specialist Cinegy (www.cinegy.com) will have its largest presence ever at the National Association of Broadcasters Convention next month to support the release of the latest version of its award-winning enterprise media asset management, production and archiving platform Cinegy Workflow.  Cinegy, whose products are widely used by broadcasters, reality TV producers and others, is raising  its profile in the U.S. market to capitalize on the industry’s transition to file-based modes of production, asset management and broadcast automation, as well as highlight the pre-eminence of metadata management as a key success factor in asset management.

While many companies are limiting their participation in NAB, Cinegy sees 2009 as a year of opportunity. Challenging economic times, according to Cinegy Managing Director Daniella Weigner, underscore the value of a product such as Cinegy Workflow that helps companies work more efficiently, effectively and less expensively.

“Cinegy Workflow delivers scalability, flexibility, low cost of ownership and a high return on investment,” Weigner observed. “Companies are watching their budgets quite carefully and we can aid them in that quest. Cinegy Workflow offers a very strong value proposition for our customers whether they require one seat or 1000.”

Cinegy Workflow is an integrated, all-in-one solution for media workgroups. The PC-based platform consists of a suite of tools, applications and open APIs encompassing every aspect of television production including ingest, logging, storyboarding, editing, post production, play-out and media archiving. The platform is entirely based on standard IT hardware and non-proprietary storage technology. It is also modular and scalable; it can be applied to a wide variety of production environments of differing size, scope and purpose. Additionally, it is low cost, easily deployable and simple to use.

At NAB, Cinegy will be showcasing improvements to virtually every component of Cinegy Workflow. Cinegy Air Server, a part of the platform’s play-out component, now includes support for Real-Time Transport Protocol (RTP) streams as live inputs and outputs. This alone can produce significant cost-savings for broadcasters by reducing the need for SDI cables and switchers. Multi-channel features have also been added to allow simultaneous play-out of several channels controlled by a single Cinegy Air Control application.

New features have also been added to Cinegy Web, which allows remote access to Cinegy Workflow. They include a new web client based on Silverlight, Microsoft’s browser plug-in that facilitates audio-video playback, and review-and-approval capability via the web.

Cinegy will also be showcasing Version 8 of Cinegy Workflow Product Range with an updated look and feel, as well as new versions of Cinegy Media Archive, Cinegy Media Desktop (including mixed resolution and aspect ratio capability) and Cinegy Convert.
