6th September 2007 Munich/Washington D.C – for immediate release

Cinegy is pleased to announce the addition of even more innovative features to the cinegy workflow solution, to be demonstrated at IBC 2007.

cinegy workflow is the complete solution for broadcast and media professionals providing an end-to-end collaborative digital asset management based integrated production and archive solution. From ingest to archive via logging, editing, searching, browsing, cinegy workflow provides the integrated media enterprise platform. Rounded off with broadcast automation and playout services, as well as news integration and web browser options for remote access.

At IBC 2007 Cinegy will be showcasing the following new features;

New features for cinegy workflow

 • Cinegy offers AVID MXF Integration.
With cinegy workflow you can easily and painlessly export to AVID with the new batch job functionality.

• cinegy web client
Cinegy’s new Web 2.0 enabled web client provides roadwarrior access to cinegy workflow.

• Introducing New Multi-Cam Functionality

The new multi-cam functionality added to the cinegy media desktop, part of the cinegy workflow solution, allows simultaneous access to feeds from 4 or more cameras with synchronous real-time processing and preview. The multi-cam tool enables instant switching between different feeds for creating sub-clips straight into a clip bin or timeline. This is the perfect tool for many applications such sports, concerts, interviews, reality TV and many more.

The multi-cam feature can be used on video streams that are being recorded live or on pre-recorded video streams that are being synced by timecode. For video clips with non-identical timecode a tool is provided allowing lining them up and bringing them into sync. As with any other tools in the cinegy media desktop, the multi-cam tool can be used with any of the working resolutions (high, medium or low). This allows multi-cam editing in using the low-res proxy while at the same time applying it e.g. to the HD high-res material.

• Media Logger

cinegy workflow now includes a Media Logger. This tool allows the associating of a script in rich text format or text file format to a Roll. When a script and Roll have been associated with each other, the Media Logger will parse the script file and will recognize the timecode and link it to the timecode within the entire. Any script timecodes that are recognized as valid within the entire will become hyperlinks and will be displayed as such (e.g. 10:01:05:16 ). Clicking on the hyperlink will move the content in the player to that point.

At any point a user can type a timecode or use the shortcut to insert the timecode into the script. The virtual clips window will update as changes are made in the logging panel in real-time. When logging is completed the user will save the logging file, this will save the logging to the metadata fields of the masterclips. The user can define keyboard hot keys and which metadata field is to be populated with the logging, for example, you could decide the script goes into the “clip description field” or in the “comments field”.

• Metadata Manager plug-in

With the new Metadata Manager plug-in for the cinegy media desktop, you can easily view metadata stored against an object, export metadata in a choice of formats, and perform the migration of metadata from any roll to a similar roll.
With an easy to use toolbar, the Metadata Manager allows you to quickly locate and view your metadata. Selecting a file will open the chosen file’s metadata records into the Metadata Manager text window. This can also be done by simply dragging and dropping the roll into the Metadata Manager, the metadata will be presented in the selected output format, either document, ALE, EDL, or Swivel.

The Metadata Manager allows the user to apply the metadata from a Source Roll to a Destination Roll. The application will compare the two selected rolls in order to establish similar clips for which metadata can be migrated. The Metadata Manager will display which clips it has managed to match and will be able to migrate the metadata for, and which clips it has not managed to match. The user can then choose to apply the metadata from the Source Roll to the Destination Roll.

• Real-time speech recognition option for cinegy ingest
The availability of the real-time speech recognition option enables automatic creation of speech-based metadata with high recognition rates for US broadcast news. Even when the recognition rates are lower the words recognized will immediately add value and make archives searchable for different criteria.

The speech recognition (SR) engine is context sensitive, speaker independent and can be set to learn itself e.g. by pointing it to a web site or plain texts that contain current news events to update its vocabulary. Supported languages at the moment are American-English, English-English, and German with other languages being added.

The speech recognition option for cinegy ingest is installed as a network based service which is simple connected to via TCP/IP. The cinegy ingest SR option is priced at a level where this becomes a very interesting alternative or an addition to existing solutions and workflows. A multi-channel version is being released shortly which allows handling of up to 16 channels by a single server in the network.

New features for cinegy air

• Multi-Channel Playout and Automation

Multi channel active mode provides you with simultaneous broadcasting of different playlists in various TV formats to multiple channels.

• Horizontal timeline

An additional horizontal timeline view provides a clear overview of all channels at the same time while the playlist of the currently selected channel can be edited using the regular, vertical view.

• Internet Broadcasting

With the new version of cinegy air there is now the ability to broadcast directly to the Internet using Windows Media steaming. This means every cinegy air playout channel can also be set up to broadcast the same program live on the Internet without requiring any additional hardware or software.

Codec Technology

• Next Generation of Cinecoder MPEG Encoder / Decoder

cinegy cinecoder is now available as version 3.0 with a whole range optimizations for the new generation of multi-core and multi-processor offerings by both Intel and AMD.

• SeaChange Empowered by Cinegy MPEG and MXF Technology

SeaChange’s new MediaClient series 6000 software based video encoders and playout servers are powered by cinegy cinecoder 3.0 MPEG software codecs, which permit multi-channel SD and/or HD playout or SD and/or HD ingest in unprecedented quality.
