Cinegy Encode

Real-time software IP encoder

Cinegy Encode is a bridge or gateway that allows broadcasters to convert uncompressed video sources such as SDI, HDMI, or ST-2110 to compressed IP streams which can be transported by RTP/UDP, SRT or other protocols.

Whether the input resolution is SD, HD, UHD and even 8K, Cinegy Encode can encode it into broadcast-quality, SMPTE-compliant streams or vice versa. Many simultaneous input streams each with user-definable quality settings, even with multiple different output formats, can be encoded in parallel - all meeting the most demanding broadcast requirements.

Using the SRT protocol Cinegy Encode can to securely send or receive IP streams via the Internet or contested WAN or LAN networks being able to convert them into any of the supported formats.

Cinegy Encode can also be used to convert between IP stream formats for instance to serve multiple different destinations with different stream requirements (audio, subtitles, codecs, bitrates).

Overview

Cinegy Encode is a software alternative to dedicated hardware encoder appliances. Using standard PC or server hardware and Cinegy's software encoders to convert uncompressed video sources such as SDI, HDMI, or ST-2110 to compressed IP streams which can be transported by RTP/UDP, SRT or other protocols. Of course this also works in the opposite direction e.g. converting IP streams to SDI.

The use of software based encoders allows for more flexibility, scalability, higher performance and provides a future-proof investment through ongoing software support providing new features, new codecs and new transport options.

Using Cinegy's own Cinecoder suite of video and audio codecs, Cinegy Encode has the ability to convert SD, HD, UHD and even 8K SDI streams into broadcast-quality, SMPTE-compliant IP streams or vice versa. Cinegy Encode can encode up to 16 incoming streams simultaneously, each with its own user-definable quality settings, to create a single or multiple different output formats (including simulcast).

The proper handling of VANC information and embedded subtitle information is another advantage of Cinegy Encode.

SRT can be used to securely send or receive IP streams via the Internet or contested WAN or LAN networks, an option used by many customers that has replaced fixed lines, as well as satellite or microwave uplinks.

Cinegy Encode also has support for Newtek NDI as source or target format further increasing its versatility.

Cinegy Encode uses the same ultra-reliable core engine as Cinegy Air sharing its architecture and scalable performance.
